Define the resources you need
Write down the resources your website needs: storage, traffic, email, backups and support. Buying a larger plan solely for its discount can cost more than choosing a smaller suitable plan.
Compare first-term and renewal totals
Compare first-term and renewal totals over the same period. Include domain renewal, migration, backups and tax. A promotional monthly equivalent does not necessarily mean monthly billing.
Include administration costs
For a VPS, account for administration work and any paid control panel. For managed WordPress, consider whether maintenance and support replace costs you would otherwise incur.
Check refunds and trial billing
Read the refund policy before purchase. Credit-based trials can require a payment method and may automatically become paid services. Set a reminder before the credit expires.
